Police seeking 2 people after 1 injured in shooting in Mt. Vernon
MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – Police are seeking two people after a man was shot in Mount Vernon Thursday night.
Mount Vernon police officers responded to the parking lot behind Times Square Mall at 3917 Broadway for a report of gunshots at 7:44 p.m. on Thursday, September 21.
Soon after, a local hospital reported having a victim with a gunshot wound.
Mount Vernon police officers and a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the hospital and the mall.
The 18-year-old man was flown to a regional hospital for further treatment. He is in stable condition.
An on-duty detective started investigating. Other detectives with the Mount Vernon Police Department were called in to assist with the investigation.
Detectives interviews several witnesses obtained leads in the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
