Graves County sheriff warns of scam calls claiming to be sheriff’s deputies

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – The Graves County Sheriff warns people that area residents are receiving telephone calls from scammers claiming to be sheriff’s deputies.
They advise that you have missed jury duty and to avoid arrest, money has to be transferred to an account that requires a visit to an area ATM.
Several victims in Graves County have fallen for this scam and have had several thousands of dollars stolen from them this week and last, according to Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden.
Sheriff’s deputies are investigating.
Sheriff Hayden says no law enforcement agency will ever ask for money over the phone or otherwise to avoid arrest.
