PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah woman faces a theft charge after detectives say she stole money from a non-profit.

Christie Bell, 54, faces one count of theft by unlawful taking over $1000.

On September 25, McCracken County Sheriff’s detectives received a complaint alleging that a large amount of money had been stolen from a local non-profit.

Members of the non-profit reported that they suspected Bell had stolen approximately $6,000.

After an investigation, police say Bell had made numerous cash withdrawals totaling $6,255 between April and September of 2023.

The money wasn’t used for non-profit business, instead was used to purchase illicit drugs, according to police.
