“This is one of the coolest projects I’ve ever worked on”: Lily’s House Sober Living Home to open next month in Paducah
PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – “This is one of the coolest projects I’ve ever worked on.”
This project being a new sober living home in Paducah called Lily’s House, a project spearheaded by Thelma Hunter, vice president of clinical services at Four Rivers Behavioral Health.
“It didn’t seem real until this past month when the painting started and the kitchen cabinets and the countertops went in, and you can actually see it becoming something now,” Hunter said.
The home will house up to six women who are pregnant or one-year post-partum. It is designed for women who have recently completed a substance use disorder treatment program and have a desire to remain drug-free during their pregnancy and beyond.
The residential program is overseen by a peer support specialist who lives on site and works with the residents to help them not only remain sober but also work towards moving into their own home with their newborn.
Hunter said this home helps an underserved population in the area.
“We have always wanted to have more treatment for women especially in this area,” she said. “In western Kentucky, there are very limited resources, and we’re just so excited to be able to offer this at this point.”
And some of the renovation work has been done by residents of CenterPoint Recovery Center, residents like Matt Jones, who feels it is necessary for him to give back in this way.
“It’s everything to me because recovery is all about giving back to the community, and it helps me stay sober along the way, too,” he said.
The home was made possible by a grant through Kentucky ASAP. It is slated to open sometime in December.
