Woman facing charges after found sleeping unauthorized in vehicle

THOMPSONVILLE, Ill. (KBSI) – A woman faces charges of aggravated battery, resisting arrest and criminal trespass in Thompsonville.

Scotie M. Slaten faces charges of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer. She also had a warrant for her arrest out of Franklin County for aggravated battery.

Deputies were responding to a report of an unauthorized person sleeping in a resident’s vehicle. The resident reported that he/she could not get the person to wake up or leave the vehicle, according to Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at 4000 block of Somer’s Church Road in Thompsonville and found a female inside the owner’s vehicle.

The woman, Scotie M. Slaten, was assisted out of the back of the vehicle then refused to cooperate with deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say once out of the vehicle she tried to flee and resist arrest.

Slaten was handcuffed and continued to resist by knocking flashlights out of deputies’ hands, kicking, and trying to pull away while being walked to the patrol car, according to deputies with the sheriff’s office.

She was transported the Williamson County Jail.
