Citizen’s and city leaders march in the snow in honor of MLK Junior Day

PADUCAH, Ky (KBSI) – A memorial service and march was held in Paducah in honor of Martin Luther King Junior.
Dr. King was the spokesperson for nonviolent activism during the civil rights movement which protested racial discrimination.
So, every third Monday in January we honor his work and legacy.
A march was held before the memorial service where citizens walked down Martin Luther King junior Drive in 8-degree weather and snow to honor the late Dr. Kings legacy.
Stephani Grey is a member of the NAACP and she explains what this event meant to her.
“Showing the unity over the years and just the triumphs, trials and tribulations of our four fathers weren’t in vain.”
Many great leaders showed up for the event such as former Kentucky State Legislator Charles Booker, Paducah Mayor George Parker Bray, Judge Craig Clymer and more.
Grey says the march is usually much longer than it was today. They had to shorten it because of the weather, but it’s not the distance that matters its the cause.
“Even if its five steps, its five steps to a better future.” Says Grey.
