Man accused of making terrorist threat in Cape Girardeau
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A man in Cape Girardeau faces a second-degree terrorist threat charge.
Chase A. Best faces a second degree terrorist threat charge.
Law enforcement received a phone call at 9:59 p.m. on February 13 about a man who had entered a business and threatened to “burng the place down.”
People at the business/community center had never seen the suspect in the building before.
He was described as a white man wearing a black jacket and carrying a gray backpack.
Someone at the business told police he believe the suspect was Best as he had prior dealings with him in the area.
A witness told police he came into the business and said in part, “…you ever let kids in this place I am burning this place to the ground.”
After worker told Best to leave, he did.
Authorities found Best at 10:40 a.m. and noticed he had changed his clothes.
They she he admitted to being at the business and making comments about the kids, but denied making comments to burn the place. Police say he later admitted he had episodes where his is unaware of his actions.
