Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club hosts 86th Annual Pancake Day
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – It is a tasty Cape Girardeau tradition that is 86 years strong!
The Cape Girardeau Noon Lions annual pancake day is Wednesday, March 20.
The tables at the A.C. Brase Arena Building are lined with syrup and all the fixings for your perfect stack of pancakes
They get there at 4 a.m. to start preparing the breakfast that includes 900 pounds of sausage.
Terry Madsen with the Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club says this tradition is all to support a good cause.
He says this year they expect a record number of people who are passionate about pancakes to come out and support the cause — funds going to local community service efforts.
He says the weather, along with more people venturing out after the height of COVID should bring out an estimated four to 5000 diners.
“We were putting the signs up last Thursday and people would honk the horn and they would cheer out the window like it was a big party coming back to Cape,” said Madsen. “So yeah it’s a tradition, and I think it’s a great opportunity to get the community to come together. It’s just one more sign of Spring, that it’s a great chance for us to get together again.”
So the fun starts Wednesday bright and early. It runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
It is one of the longest running pancake days in the world!
Tickets are $8. They have dine in, carry out and drive through.
