Murray man facing numerous charges after 2 police chases

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Murray man faces numerous charges after Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies say he led them on two police chases on Tuesday, March 19.

Mark Anthony Hutson, 42, of Murray faces two counts of fleeing or evading police 1st degree (Class D felony), criminal mischief 1st degree (Class D felony), wanton endangerment 1st degree (Class D felony), assault 3rd degree-police officer (Class D felony), two counts of operating motor vehicle on suspended operators license, two counts of reckless driving and resisting arrest.

Calloway County sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle that they believed to be driven by Hutson on Highway 80 East going in the opposite direction on March 19 at 7 p.m.

Hutson was known to have a suspended driver’s license.

The deputy turned around to follow the vehicle to confirm it when the driver accelerated turning on to Todd Road in an attempt to avoid being stopped.

The deputy activated his emergency equipment, but the suspect vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed.

Deputies lost contact with the vehicle in the area of Irvin Cobb Road.

A warrant was obtained for Hutson’s arrest.

About 11:30 p.m. that same night deputies saw the same vehicle traveling inbound into Calloway County on Hardin-Wadesboro Road.

The driver continued driver after they initiated their emergency equipment. Deputies say the driver did not slow at major intersections and created substantial risk to the public and to law enforcement.

The suspect vehicle lost control in a curve and went into a field where a P.I.T. (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver was initiated causing the suspect vehicle to become disabled.

While the deputies were arresting Hutson, one of the deputies sustained a broken finger.

Hutson was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.

Deputies say Hutson has an extensive criminal history in Calloway County dating back to 2004 including many felony offenses.

When he was arrested, Hutson was out of bond after many drug and theft related charges in 2022 and 2023.
