Employee at Senath nursing home charged with assault

SENATH, Mo. (KBSI) – An employee is accused assaulting a resident at the Senath Health Care Center.
Joseph Rogers, 32, of Kennett faces a charge of felony assault in the first degree, according to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain.
Senath police were notified on February 4 around 10 a.m. of a “very violent assault perpetrated on a speical needs person at the Senath Health Care Facility/Nursing Home.”
Police say the victim, a resident of the care facility, struck facility staff member Joseph Rogers. Rogers is accused of getting up from the chair he was sitting in, walking away, removing his hoodie, then returning and “proceeded to beat the victim severely.”
The assault required four additional staff member to stop Rogers’ attack and subdue him to safey attend to the victim’s wounds, according to the probable cause statement.
Police say after the staff members removed Rogers, he removed his shirt, wiped his face with it, threw it down and tried to get past the staff members to continue the attack.
The victim was taken to a medical facility for threatment of his injuries.
The bond for Rogers is set at $75,000.
