Death in Scott County under investigation

BENTON, Mo. (KBSI) – A death is under investigation in Scott County.

Scott County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 407 Lake Road in Benton in reference to an assault in progress on Monday, April 22 at 7 a.m.

Deputies found the suspect near the home. That person was taken into custody.

The victim was found near a barn on the north side of the property.

North Scott County Ambulance District personnel arrived on the scene and began treating the victim. However, life saving measures were unsuccessful.

The Scott County coroner responded to the scene and declared the victim dead.

The death is under investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled later in the week.

Scott County Sheriff Wes Drury thanked the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance with the investigation.
