Man arrested after lengthy chase in stolen car
MINER, MO (KBSI) — On Friday, April 19th officers with the Miner Police Department assisted the Scott County Sheriff’s Office with a pursuit of a stolen car.
The driver of the stolen car, later identified as Terry Davis of Bloomfield, refused to stop for the deputy who was trying to pull him over. Davis instead led the deputy on a high-speed chase.
During the chase, Davis broke multiple traffic laws and accelerated to speeds over 100 miles per hour on county and city streets. He also allegedly crossed into on-coming traffic on numerous occasions, and forced cars off the road. It was also reported that Davis struck another car on I-55.
Because of the danger to the public, Stop Sticks were deployed on the stolen car on State Highway H, in front of the Miner Police Department. Both driver-side tires of the car were deflated, however, Davis continued to drive through the city of Miner.
Ultimately, Davis drove through a barbed wire fence, and law enforcement managed to catch up to him. As they did so, Davis attempted to hit the officer twice and attempted to run him off the road or into their cars.
Due to the immediate danger, Captain Rapert performed a PIT maneuver on the car, which caused it to spin out into the grass on the shoulder of the interstate.
Davis then ran on foot from the car into a wooded area where he was later apprehended by officers.
After a records check on Davis, it was determined his driver’s license was suspended and Davis had a felony no bond warrant through Arkansas for distribution of cocaine.
