JACKSON Mo. (KBSI) – For the Fourth of July there is a lot going on in Jackson Missouri including mud volleyball, car shows, fireworks, and most importantly safety. Nick Pfau from the Jackson Fire Rescue is one of the firefighters on standby and he says what he is doing to keep people cool during this heat.

“We are here in Jackson city Park today we’ve got the firetrucks out here letting kids run around and see them. We were running safety for the volleyball, men’s volleyball tournament we ran a little first aid station for that. And just in general first aids for everyone out here it’s a busy day and it’s hot out. Making sure everyone stay hydrated and cool.”

He gives advice on what people should be doing before the fireworks and how they are here to help.

“We wanna encourage everybody to drink plenty of water and stay cool. Take this chance right now between the volleyball tournament and fireworks to go inside to get some AC and drink plenty of water. We have both crews out here and first aid and a side-by-side with all duty members running first aid that we can run around the park and make sure everyone stays safe.”

The Winckler family, a family that just moved to the area says they looked up online what to do around the area and found this event at the park. They say they are excited to be apart of this event and meet the local people and firefighters.

“Our family went online to see what was going on cause we just moved here about a month ago and so we showed up so some cool cars ate some yummy food. Thomas here He got to hang out. Got to hang out on some really fun firetrucks.”\

During all the fun here, Michael Winckler says he nis making sure his family stays cool and safe during this holiday.

“Water from our water bottles you know drinking it as much as we can, putting it on their heads making sure we’re in the shade and making sure that we’re moving.”
