Former Southeast Missouri State University President Dale Nitzschke dies at 87

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A former Southeast Missouri State University President has died at the age of 87.

Dr. Dale Nitzschke, who served as SEMO’s 16th president made a lasting impact on many, says a Facebook post made by the University.
Nitzschke served as SEMO President for three years, and he oversaw the opening of regional campuses in Sikeston and Kennett, the creation of the Polytechnic Institute, and major expansions, including Dempster Hall and the Student Recreation Center.
He also helped support the vision for the River Campus, now home to the Holland College of Arts and Media.
According to his obituary his wife Linda also passed away in the same week.
Both deaths were unexpected.
Dale Nitzschke passed away in the hospital battling an infection on October 17, 2024.
His wife Linda passed away on October 12, 2024.
Dr. Dale Nitzschke, served as SEMO President from 1996-1999.
