Stacy Kinder, the Mayor of Cape Girardeau, has been meeting with the Gun Violence Task Force as well as city leaders since the summer.

“I got a lot of good recommendations and thoughts on what could possibly be contributing to some of the violence, and what might be possible solutions. That was the purpose of the whole committee. to really, really just start this is a first step. this committee, we’ve never really pulled together a group like this in the city before,” said Kinder.

Mayor Kinder explains that they have been trying to increase funding for the police of Cape to keep their city safe.

Kinder says this presentation is only the start.

“Been a lot of time spent, but quite frankly, it’s just been scratching the surface,” said Kinder.

The City Council did not vote on anything as this presentation was to spread awareness to the members and higher officials of Cape Girardeau the recent acts of gun violence that’s been happening in their city.
