Chicago man charged with battery after climbing on horse statue

CHRISTOPHER, Ill., (KBSI) — UPDATE- FOX23 has spoken with the Christopher Police Department and has been given this statement,

In accordance with our policy standards, we refrain from including profanity or slurs in our initial reports. However, we thoroughly documented the interaction following the arrest and submitted the evidence to the courts. We do not condone the use of slurs during the interaction. As law enforcement officers, our primary responsibility is to uphold the law. The court system has collected all relevant evidence and will take it into consideration accordingly.”

A Chicago man was arrested Sunday after allegedly battering a man at a local business.
According to police, officers responded to Stoecker’s Saddle Shop in Christopher after a report of a battery. They found a male victim with facial injuries, including a laceration to his eye.
The victim told police he had approached a man climbing on a horse statue outside the business and asked him to get down, leading to a verbal altercation and physical confrontation.
Darnell F. Woods, 35, of Chicago, was arrested at the scene without incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Woods was charged with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, and was taken to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
