Wanted Fugitive: Doniel J. McKenzie sought by Williamson County authorities

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) – Williamson County, Illinois authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Doniel J. McKenzie, a fugitive who failed to return to jail after being granted a furlough.

McKenzie was authorized to spend time with a terminally ill family member under hospice care and was released from jail on February 27, 2025.

However, he failed to report back to the Williamson County Jail by the required deadline of March 2, 2025.

An investigation revealed that McKenzie removed his electronic ankle monitoring device and is actively evading law enforcement.

McKenzie has pending cases in Williamson County for arson, methamphetamine possession, and aggravated domestic battery. He is now also wanted for escape.

McKenzie has ties to Carbondale, Colp, Herrin, and the Marion area, and may be attempting to travel to Springfield or Decatur, Illinois.
