Cape Girardeau man charged with unlawful use of a weapon, drug possession

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Anthony Harris, 31, of Cape Girardeau was taken into custody early Sunday morning after officers responded to a report of a weapon violation in the 1000-block of Hickory Street.

According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, Harris was found in the basement of a residence with a handgun equipped with an extended magazine, as well as suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. A records check revealed Harris is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Harris has been formally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm (Class C felony), possession of a controlled substance (Class D felony), and unlawful use of a weapon (Class E felony). He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.

Harris is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and the offense charge is merely an accusation.
