Kentucky Governor warns of flood cleanup dangers, urges caution on flooded roads
FRANKFORT, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is urging residents to exercise caution during the ongoing flood recovery efforts. Beshear warned against driving around barricades on flooded roads, citing a recent rescue of someone who ignored these warnings.
Rescue and Evacuation Efforts
Kentucky emergency crews have conducted:
142 rescues since the storms began
272 evacuations by boat
Shift in Emergency Response
The state emergency response will now focus on western Kentucky, as floodwaters have crested in Frankfort and eastern parts of the state.
Safety Concerns
Beshear cautioned survivors about potential hazards during cleanup, including:
Tetanus shots: recommended for those cleaning up damage
Hidden dangers: gasoline or other materials in the water
Mold growth: on damp or wet surfaces
