Perryville, St. Vincent students participate in County Government Day
PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Perry County office holders hosted students from St. Vincent and Perryville high schools for County Government Day on Monday.
The annual event, organized by the American Legion Post 133 Women’s Auxiliary, has been a tradition for nearly 70 years.
Twenty-five students spent the morning touring county government offices, including the new Perry County Joint Justice Center.
The students watched a demonstration by K-9 Officer Echo and his handler, Jeremiah Owens, and viewed a documentary on the history of courthouses and jails in Perry County.
The group also enjoyed lunch at the American Legion and witnessed a flag-folding ceremony conducted by the Legion Color Guard.
Participating students from Perryville High School were Katie Broeking, Gwynivere Neubrough, Xavier Pfaff, Ayla Schuler, Hallie Figge, Kassidy Miller, Grady Warren, Taylor Ebersohl, Audrey O’Leary, Kaleb Huber, Blake Bodendieck, Reagan Pingel, Lydyah Boland, Chamberlain Chapman and Ava Day.
St. Vincent students participating were Logan Hayden, Alivia Ellis, Noah Hager, Brigid Sauer, Madelin Pecaut, Isabel Cissell, Kennedy Sutterer, Haley Emmendorfer and Lilly Best.
