Missouri regulators approve $143M rate hike for Missouri-American water

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a settlement agreement in the Missouri-American Water Company rate case, allowing the company to increase annual water and sewer revenues by $143 million.

The agreement, signed by the PSC Staff, the Missouri Office of the Public Counsel and other parties, is $23 million less than the company’s initial request.

The settlement addresses class cost of service and rate design but rejects a proposed Universal Affordability Tariff due to lack of cost estimates and concerns over fairness.

The new rates will take effect after Missouri-American Water files, and the commission approves updated tariff sheets.
