SEMO’s Small Business Development Center reports strong first half of 2025
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University’s Small Business Development Center is celebrating a strong first half of 2025, having helped launch 13 businesses and hosting 31 workshops that drew 243 entrepreneurs and owners.
The center also secured $1.9 million in funding from various sources. The SBDC provides free support to businesses, including planning, financial forecasting and strategic development.
“Every business we support means more jobs, positive economic impact and a more vibrant southeast Missouri,” said Jakob Pallesen, SBDC director.
The center has participated in AI certification programs, collaborated with high school business programs and launched an effort to increase awareness of state and federal business support programs.
The SBDC plans to expand its reach with additional business boot camps, targeted workshops and increased collaborations across campus and the region.
