Ameren Missouri donates air conditioners to aid vulnerable neighbors

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — Ameren Missouri has donated 140 ENERGY STAR certified window air conditioners to several Southeast Missouri action agencies to help vulnerable neighbors stay safe and cool during the summer.

The donated air conditioners, which cost less than $1 a day to operate, will be distributed by agencies including East Missouri Action Agency and the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation.

Ameren Missouri encourages customers to register for programs designed to keep neighbors safe and cool. Energy assistance is also available to customers who need help paying their bills.

Programs include:

— Veterans Assistance: Up to $600 for active-duty military and veterans
— Dollar More: Up to $600 for eligible customers
— LIHEAP Summer Crisis Assistance: Up to $300 for eligible customers
