Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards $90,000 in grants to Missouri organizations

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., (KBSI) — The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $90,000 in grants to Missouri non-profit organizations, libraries and schools to support youth literacy programs.

The funds are part of a larger effort by the foundation, which recently awarded more than $3.5 million in grants across the country. The grants can be used for professional development opportunities or to purchase books, technology and materials to support K-12 students.

According to Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, the grants aim to provide vital support to local literacy programs.

– Jefferson City: Belair Elementary School, $1,500
– Kansas City: Gordon Parks Elementary School, $4,000; Lead to Read Inc, $5,000
– Mountain Grove: MO-MOUNTAIN GROVE-MOUNTAIN GROVE Middle School, $3,000
– Neelyville: Neelyville R-IV School District, $4,000
