They are a no kill shelter and heavily rely on the community for donations to stay afloat.

To help combat this they are offering a special, 2 cats can be adopted for one price- $15.

Cats and Kittens come spayed, neutered, up to date on all shots and microchipped.

The adoption fee special is happening now and ends on August 25, 2025.

Jeena Roy is the Semo Pets Office Manager. She says they are facing an overcrowding issue as more and more cats continue to be brought in. Semo Pets is a no kill animal shelter in Cape Girardeau, and they heavily rely on the community and adoptions.

Amongst the many cats they have available is Sora and his brother Riku. She shares why these two are a perfect pair.

“This is Sora. Sora is five months old, and he has a brother who is Riku. Riku is also well, obviously five months and they are bonded, and we don’t normally bond kittens that are this young. We actually did that because if you can’t tell little Sora here has got some eye, well, impairment. That’s what we’ll call it. And it came from an infection that he came to us with, and we have treated it. We have done everything we can, and he’s just going to be left with a little bit of vision loss. And for that reason, we’ve decided he needs a seeing eye cat for himself. And what better what better kitty to do the job than his brother?” says Roy.

Roy shares that they often receive kittens that are very young in age that people have found and assume the mom left them. She says if you see kittens or puppies and a mom isn’t around not to go directly to them if they aren’t in immediate danger as the mother is usually getting food but will be back. Once the kittens are moved the mother either can’t find them or won’t continue to feed them.

She advices letting the mother do her job until the babies are at least 8 weeks old to give them the best shot at being healthy.

She says there are circumstances where mom doesn’t come back and once your completely certain that she isn’t returning that’s when to help.
