Cape Girardeau police clarify firearm rules for off-duty officers at SEMO District Fair

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department issued a clarification Sunday regarding off-duty law enforcement officers carrying firearms at the SEMO District Fair.

Off-duty officers may carry their authorized firearms while attending the fair, according to the department.

Officers carrying concealed firearms must show their badge and agency-issued photo identification. Firearms must remain concealed while officers are on the fairgrounds.

Police said the clarification follows recent confusion about law enforcement officers attending the fair. The department said fair officials and local law enforcement agencies worked together to resolve the miscommunication and provide consistent information.
