Firefighters quickly contain residential blaze in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a residential fire Friday at 431 E. Cape Rock Drive.
Crews arrived to find flames showing from the rear of the home, officials said. The renter confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Engine 3 entered the home and, with support from additional units, brought the fire under control within minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour to conduct overhaul operations and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
No injuries were reported. Investigators believe the fire was electrical in nature.
Mutual aid was provided by Jackson Fire Rescue, Scott City Fire, the Fruitland Fire Protection District, and the Gordonville Fire Protection District.
