Caruthersville officer completes defensive tactics instructor course

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) – Caruthersville Police Corporal Corey Vaughn has completed an instructor-level Defensive Tactics Ground Control Course hosted by the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association in Sikeston.

The training, held last week, brought together officers from across Missouri for intensive instruction in advanced techniques drawn from judo, catch wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

With the certification, Vaughn is now qualified to train fellow officers in methods designed to safely and effectively control combative situations.

Police officials said the ongoing training ensures officers uphold high standards of professionalism, safety, and preparedness in serving the community.
