Traffic stop leads to drug arrests in Graves County

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A Graves County sheriff’s deputy arrested two men Wednesday after a traffic stop on Paris Road near Barton Drive led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and cash, authorities said.

Deputy Andrew Prusaczyk stopped a southbound vehicle for equipment violations and identified the driver as Edward L. Langston, 59, of Benton, Ky., and the passenger as Matthew D. Heath, 47, of Hardin, Ky. A search of the vehicle yielded about 3 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and $468.19 in U.S. currency, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said both men attempted to conceal the suspected methamphetamine during the stop.

Charges

Edward L. Langston: first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (2 grams or more of methamphetamine); tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia; no registration plate; no registration receipt.

Matthew D. Heath: first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (2 grams or more of methamphetamine); tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia.

Langston and Heath were transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center and later lodged at the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Deputies Austin Ramage and Tanner Bazarnyj assisted at the scene.
