CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri will welcome the First Annual Pintwood Derby later this month, an adults-only event blending the nostalgia of Pinewood Derby racing with an evening of food, drinks and community fun.

Hosted by the Shawnee District of Greater St. Louis Area Scouting, the Pintwood Derby is set for Oct. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Roost Market in Cape Girardeau. The event will feature the same iconic wooden car races that generations of Scouts have enjoyed, while also showcasing programs that serve hundreds of local youths. Guests can explore Scouting’s inflatable planetarium and experiment with hands-on activities from the mobile STEM Laboratory.

Attendees will also enjoy food and desserts from local vendors, beverages provided by 3 Eagles Distributing, and a cash bar. Tickets start at $45 per person, with proceeds supporting Scouting programs across Southeast Missouri.

Tickets and sponsorships are available at Greater St. Louis Area Scouting.

The Shawnee District, part of the Greater St. Louis Area Council, serves more than 1,100 youth in Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Perry, northern Stoddard and northern Scott counties. The Ritter Scout Service Center, located at 3000 Gordonville Road in Cape Girardeau, is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 573-335-3346.
