Mayfield woman charged after assaulting paramedic, police say

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A Mayfield woman faces multiple charges after police say she was under the influence of drugs and assaulted a paramedic while being transported to a hospital.
Officers with the Mayfield Police Department responded to a disturbance on West North Street Saturday and encountered Katrina Snelling, 37, who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, according to police.
Mayfield EMS arrived at the scene and transported Snelling to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for evaluation. During transport, police said Snelling struck a medic in the knee multiple times.
Graves County sheriff’s deputies responded to the emergency room to assist EMS and Mayfield police. After being medically cleared, Snelling was arrested and charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree assault of an EMS worker.
She was taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center.
The Mayfield Police Department was assisted by Mayfield EMS and the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
