Cold Start for Monday, Warmer by Tuesday
A cold and breezy close to the weekend across the Heartland with overnight temperatures in the 20s.
Highs today clawed their way to the lower and middle 50s, with colder temperatures creeping in from the northwest.
Stormcast shows a very small chance of a flurry tonight, with the bulk of the snow from a passing system staying well to our north and east.
Be prepared to break out the winter gear for Monday morning’s commute. Lows tonight falling into the lower to mid-20s across our area.
Wind chills as we head out the door Monday will be in the teens, if not the single digits!
Expect the middle 20s tonight in Cape Girardeau with a strong northwesterly wind. Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with a brief flurry or two possible.
Highs on Monday will try for the upper 30s and lower 40s, nearly 20 degrees below average with the incoming blast of cold air for the Heartland.
We will try our best to reach the 40s tomorrow in Cape, but northwesterly winds will look to hold afternoon temperatures just shy of the 40-degree mark Monday afternoon.
Thankfully warmer temperatures return to the forecast by the middle of the upcoming week. Near average by Wednesday with highs in the 60s, then shifting to above average temperatures by Friday. Our next best chance for precipitation looks to arrive in the Heartland late next weekend.
