Missing Persons Update: Truck belonging to Caleb Powell found in rural New Madrid County

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Deer hunters discovered the abandoned truck of missing New Madrid resident Caleb Powell in rural New Madrid County on Monday morning, authorities said.

Powell was reported missing in April and has not been located. The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office said targeted searches will be conducted in the area where the vehicle was found over the next several weeks.

Officials are not requesting volunteers at this time. The search area is on private property, and no one is permitted to enter without the landowner’s permission. The sheriff’s office also noted that excessive foot traffic could hinder efforts to locate Powell.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and updates will be provided when available,” Sheriff Joey Higgerson said.
