Suspect taken into custody after search in Fredericktown

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo., (KBSI) — A suspect sought by Fredericktown police was taken into custody, authorities said, after a search in the Pine Castle Estates area.

Police said an anonymous citizen recognized the suspect from images shared on social media and contacted authorities with information about his whereabouts.

The search began about 8:45 p.m. Dec. 13, when police said officers were on foot in the Pine Castle Estates subdivision looking for a white male wearing dark clothing, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. Police said the suspect was wanted in connection with a local misdemeanor offense and had fled into the neighborhood.

Authorities later identified the suspect as Nathan Strange and said he was also a felony parole absconder.

Residents had been advised to lock doors and outbuildings and to call dispatch at 783-3660 if they saw anything suspicious. Police said the suspect is now in custody.

Fredericktown Police thanked the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison County Dispatch, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Fredericktown Police Department for their assistance and cooperation.
