Warm weather helps KYTC crews make progress on icy roads statewide

KENTUCKY (KBSI) — Warmer temperatures and sunshine are helping Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews improve road conditions across much of the state.
Officials said road conditions continue to vary by region and from county to county, depending on the type of precipitation that fell and local factors such as shaded areas where ice is slower to melt.
The cabinet is shifting resources from areas less affected by winter weather to locations still experiencing hazardous conditions.
Crews are deploying heavier equipment, including graders, and additional operators to assist on state routes and some non-state roads that remain difficult to travel.
Under the current state of emergency, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is also assisting some local government road crews to help make roads passable.
Drivers are urged to continue giving road crews plenty of space while they work.
Residents can follow updates from their local transportation district online.
