MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — Students from Graves County High School earned top honors at Murray State University’s annual Math Day competition, school officials said.

More than 250 students from 13 surrounding schools participated in the event, competing in both individual and team challenges.

Students took part in two events: an individual competition featuring a comprehensive mathematics exam and a group competition in which teams worked together to solve as many math problems as possible within 45 minutes.

In the individual upper-level exam, David Heinig placed second overall among juniors, earning a future scholarship to Murray State. Jesse Morse placed third overall among juniors in the same division and also earned a future scholarship.

In the group competition, the team of Kaiden Luckey, Lane Lunsford, Drew Johnson and Xander Mills earned first place overall. Each student received a medal and a cash prize.

School officials congratulated the students for representing Graves County at the competition.
