Saputo recalls Great Value Cottage Cheese over pasteurization concern
FOX23 News at 9 p.m
MILWAUKEE (KBSI) — Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is voluntarily recalling select Great Value brand cottage cheese products due to concerns that liquid dairy ingredients used in the items may not have been fully pasteurized in accordance with state regulatory standards.
The company said no illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported in connection with the recall. However, consuming products that are not fully pasteurized can pose health risks, particularly for young children, older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems.
The issue was identified during pasteurizer troubleshooting conducted in coordination with the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The company said the affected pasteurizer has since been returned to normal operation and verified by state officials. No other products from the facility were impacted.
