Paducah, McCracken County to host Spring Clean Up Day April 18

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Residents will have the opportunity to dispose of household waste during the annual City-County Spring Clean Up Day on April 18.
The free event will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Republic Services transfer station, 829 Burnett St. Residents must bring identification to verify they live in Paducah or McCracken County. Those in line by 2 p.m. will be allowed to participate.
Officials said accepted items include household garbage, appliances, tires, hazardous waste, batteries, ammunition, prescription medications and electronic waste. Medical, commercial and radioactive waste will not be accepted.
Traffic will enter from North 10th Street off Park Avenue, with drivers directed through a designated drop-off route.
Paducah Power System will also offer disposal for mercury-containing bulbs, with one LED bulb provided per household that participates.
Organizers said the event typically serves about 700 vehicles each year and collects more than 200 tons of waste and materials.
