MISSOURI (KBSI) – A bald eagle rehabilitated by Watkins Wildlife Rehab was released Thursday in Poplar Bluff after recovering from severe talon issues that initially left the bird unable to stand.

The organization said staff members hand-fed the eagle while it recovered and monitored its progress until it was able to grip a tree limb and stand on its own.

Watkins Wildlife Rehab credited community support for helping make the rehabilitation possible, thanking donors, supporters and those who shared the organization’s posts online.

The group also expressed gratitude for recent donations toward a golf cart, noting the nonprofit operates entirely on donations and does not receive state or federal funding.

“Thank you all, and happy Mother’s Day,” the organization said in a social media post.
