PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A 17-year-old boy and two Paducah residents were arrested after police said shots were fired from a moving vehicle early Sunday morning.
According to the Paducah Police Department, Officer Jackson McCormick was patrolling near Mildred and Kruger streets around 1:11 a.m. when he saw a 17-year-old male fire multiple gunshots from inside a moving vehicle in the 900 block of North 25th Street.
Police stopped the vehicle, but the juvenile fled on foot and entered a nearby residence. Officers contacted the juvenile’s parents, who brought him outside to speak with police.
While investigating, officers returned to the area where the shots were fired and found damage to a vehicle and the exterior of an occupied home.
Police later served a search warrant at the residence where the juvenile had fled. Investigators said they found a handgun under a mattress in a bedroom shared by Tari J. Haynes, 49, and Christopher E. Robinson, 46. Officers also recovered multiple boxes of ammunition and marijuana.
Authorities said the juvenile is prohibited from possessing a handgun because of his age. Haynes and Robinson are both convicted felons and are prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions.
The juvenile was taken to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, minor in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and second-degree criminal mischief.
Haynes, of Paducah, was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana. Robinson, also of Paducah, faces the same charges.
Both were lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
