CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department is taking its evening roll call into local neighborhoods this month as part of an effort to strengthen relationships between officers and residents.
The department’s Neighborhood Roll Call initiative gives community members an opportunity to meet the officers who patrol their area, learn about crime trends, discuss concerns and build connections with law enforcement.
According to the department, officers are holding roll call briefings beginning at 7 p.m., unless stated otherwise, in neighborhoods across the city. Residents are encouraged to attend, interact with officers and ask questions about issues affecting their communities.
The final Neighborhood Roll Call event of the month is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, at the Cape Girardeau Police Department substation at 629 Good Hope Street starting at 6 p.m.
The event will include “Spud with a Cop,” a community gathering sponsored by Restoration Community Church. Organizers will provide baked potatoes and toppings while residents meet with officers and discuss neighborhood concerns in an informal setting.
Police encourage residents to attend the events to learn more about what is happening in their neighborhoods, express concerns and build partnerships with law enforcement.
