SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating the death of a man after he was taken into custody by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

According to the highway patrol, the investigation was requested by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety and remains ongoing. Officials said all information released so far is preliminary.

Authorities said Lloyd D. Gilmore, 44, of Sikeston, approached officers at the department’s headquarters on South Kingshighway on the evening of June 10 and allegedly assaulted officers.
