Murray man charged after allegedly keeping misdelivered package

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — A Murray man is facing a felony charge after deputies say he knowingly kept a package that had been delivered to the wrong address.

According to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9 p.m. July 16 to a residence on Lone Circle for a report of stolen mail.

The investigation determined a package was mistakenly delivered to a different address on Lone Circle. Deputies said the recipient knowingly kept the package, depriving the rightful owner of the property.

Van Lawson, 37, of Murray, was arrested and charged with theft of mail matter, a Class D felony.

Lawson was lodged in the Calloway County Detention Facility.

Lawson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
