CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau native is featured in the U.S. Army’s latest marketing campaign highlighting how military training prepares soldiers for challenges during and after their service.
Sgt. Jordan Niswonger, an active-duty electromagnetic warfare specialist, appears in the Army’s “Field Tested” campaign. The campaign features soldiers discussing how hands-on experience, problem-solving and teamwork have helped prepare them for their careers and futures.
Niswonger serves with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
His interest in military service began while he was working at a hospital, where his interactions with veterans inspired him to join the Army.
As an electromagnetic warfare specialist, Niswonger works with a team trained to detect Wi-Fi, radio and cellular signals. That information can help military units identify enemy locations and gather intelligence during operations.
Niswonger said his Army career has also allowed him to deploy overseas, experience other cultures and pursue a degree in computer information systems with financial assistance from the Army.
As a leader, Niswonger said he finds fulfillment in mentoring younger soldiers and helping them develop in their roles.
The “Field Tested” campaign focuses on the real-world training environments and technical skills the Army says prepare soldiers for military service and future careers.
