VIENNA, Ill. (KBSI) — A southern Illinois school community is coming together to support a local student-athlete following a recent cancer diagnosis.
Vienna High School is encouraging students, staff and community members to wear pink Tuesday, Oct. 27, in support of Bella Fasolo, a 2026 Pope County High School graduate and current student-athlete at Southeastern Illinois College.
According to a social media post from Vienna High School, Fasolo was recently diagnosed with sarcoma, a type of cancer that develops in bones or soft tissues.
The event, called “Pink Out for Bella,” is intended to show support for Fasolo and her family as she faces her diagnosis.
School officials are asking the community to participate by wearing pink throughout the day.
The school hopes the display of support will remind Fasolo and her family that the southern Illinois community is standing behind them.
Community members are encouraged to join the effort Tuesday by wearing pink and helping spread the message of encouragement.
