Southeast Missouri Pets was formerly known as the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.

“We love our community and we do a lot with everybody,” said Jenn Farmer – Executive Director of Southeast Missouri Pets.

They work with troubled ladies who come in on Thursday mornings. Puppies United People Succsessfully. They wash and walk dogs.

“You can just see the difference in the ladies when they leave,” said Farmer.

They do fostering for Safe House of Southeast Missouri. If a woman has to leave her home, Southeast Missouri Pets will take her pets.

They also work with the health department on disaster relief.

“Fosters and volunteers are the heart of what we work for. Without fosters and volunteers we would just be part staff. That wouldn’t even work for us. So we really, really love our fosters. That helps us to get dogs and cats into homes that need them. Maybe a medical issue. Maybe just a break from the shelter.

Their volunteers walk dogs, do laundry and socialize cats.

“We are definitely donation based. We do not receive any donations from the Humane Society of the United States. That is why we changed our name from the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri to SEMO Pets,” said Farmer.

“Just want everyone to know that we appreciate all the donations within the community,” said Farmer. “That’s how we stay alive, how the lights stay on, how the dogs and cats stay fed.”

Southeast Missouri Pets is donation based.

They are located at 180 Weston Street in Cape Girardeau where they do donations in their adoption center.
