1 arrested, 2 on the run after police chase through multiple counties

FRUITLAND, Mo. (KBSI) – A manhunt is underway for two women after a police chase on Wednesday.

A citizen called the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office reporting multiple vehicle break ins near Fruitland at 4 a.m. on March 23.

The witness saw the vehicle believed to be involved in a break-in and tried to follow it. While following, the suspects shot at the witness, according to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office. The witness stopped following the suspects.

Deputies caught up with the suspect vehicle and tried to stop it. A police chase began that involved multiple jurisdictions and agencies and ended in Jefferson County.

One was arrested. A manhunt is underway in Jefferson County for the remaining people, believed to be two women, who were in the vehicle.

The Jackson Police Department also received multiple calls of a vehicle break-in, which is believed to be related to this investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and active.
