1 injured in early morning fire in Marion, IL

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Firefighters in Marion rescued a person from a fire early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from the Marion Fire Department were dispatched to 304 East Marion Street at 2:13 a.m. on May 29 for a fire with someone trapped.

Firefighters found heavy fire conditions and used ground laddres to remove the victim from the second floor.

They streetch landlines and began fighting the fire.

Firefighters say the fire extended from the first floor into the second floor and attic space.

New arriving crews used Ladder 1 main stream to assist with fire suppression.

They got the fire under control within 45 minutes. Then, they began an extensive overhaul. Crews were on scene for about four hours.

A person was taken to a hospital with minor injured and later released.

Marion firefighters are investigating the fire.

The department was assisted by the Marion Police Department, United Ambulance Herrin Fire Department and Ameren gas and electric crews.
