4-day-old child dies in Williamson County

COLP, Ill. — Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call at 8:29 a.m. today reporting an unresponsive 4-day-old child. Emergency medical services transported the child to a local hospital, where the infant was pronounced dead.

The residence has been secured, and investigators from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office remain on the scene.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich stated that his office has requested assistance from the Illinois Child Death Investigations Task Force, citing standard protocol in cases involving child fatalities.
