CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department and Beyond the Badge family support group will host the 4th annual Shield of Armor Wellness Seminar on April 28-29.

The two-day event at the Drury Plaza Hotel Conference Center aims to promote mental health and well-being among first responders and their families.

Renowned experts will discuss mental wellness, stress management and physical health, focusing on the effects of PTSD and other mental health issues related to trauma.

“More law enforcement officers die by suicide than are killed in the line of duty,” said Patrolman Bobby Newton. “This event helps us break down barriers and have difficult conversations.”

Participants will gain practical tools for self-improvement, including strategies to recognize and manage PTSD, trauma and stress.

Keynote speakers include Greg Stube, Dr. Erin Craw and Jason Schechterle.
